Old Adirondack The Authentic Old Adirondack Furniture company is just that. They are located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and handcraft each piece of furniture out of USA grown Northern White Cedar. The Northern White Cedar is Kiln-dried and has the ability to have a finish applied. The US Forestry department notes that Cedar has the highest rating for decay and disease resistance of any wood. Cedar naturally has a slow absorption and lose of moisture, making splintering, swelling and dry cracking minimal. All of their products are shipped in their natural color of pale tan or light gold. Over time and use the color will change to a silver gray color. Using a water-based stain will delay the natural weathering process. Or, a latex paint can be used, and finishing instructions and guidelines are provided to help you make the most out of your Old Adirondack furniture.
If the furniture is not finished, it is key to cover the furniture, bring the furniture inside during the winter time and do not let it sit in mud, or water for extended periods of time to lengthen the lifetime of the furniture. Most pieces will require minimal assembly with the use of a mallet and/or a power drill. Since each piece is handmade, there is typically a longer production lead time of two to three weeks. |
